Consumer Tips: Matters needing attention in purchasing automobile coolant
The industry and commerce department reminds consumers to pay attention to the following points when purchasing automobile coolant:
First, the brand of coolant is generally its freezing point value. When purchasing, the coolant with freezing point value about 10℃ lower than the lowest temperature in the region should be selected in combination with the use region and season. For example, in the south of the Yangtze River, the coolant of-25 can be used, and in the north, northeast and northwest of the Yangtze River, the coolant of-35 to-50 should be used.
Second, it is recommended that coolant should not be mixed. Different manufacturers and brands of coolant may have chemical reactions after mixing, which may easily lead to the failure of anti-scaling and anti-corrosion functions.
Third, some antifreeze solutions are concentrated solutions, which must be diluted with water to achieve the best antifreeze effect. For diluted water, it is recommended to use deionized water or distilled water, and purified water or cooled boiled water can also be used for emergency. However, tap water, groundwater or surface water should not be used, otherwise, it is easy to produce scale and corrode the cooling system.
4. The nitrite preservative added in ethylene glycol antifreeze is carcinogenic. Do not inhale it. After skin contact, it should be cleaned with water immediately.
